Do it Now

Window of Opportunity © Sue O’Kieffe 2010

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power ~ Alan Cohen

Could it be? Yes it could. Something’s coming, something good. ~Stephen Sondheim (West Side Story)

I dont know about you, but I feel like things are getting ready to shift in a big way. This doodle just begged to be created, and who am I to say no to that? If you are in the journey of living your life to match your dreams, I think now is the time to take some bold action.

How are you feeling these days? I’d love to hear your stories.

  1. I’ve made a bold decision this week that will be important for my future life. I have to wait and see how it will pan out, but I have good hopes for it. I’m an optimist.

  2. Love your colors and doodles here! That “action” is a powerful motivator!! I’m working on some stuff too and trying to match up my dreams with my actions!

  3. Sue, you are incredible as always, flowing with your own power…can you tell me what you use for colours and what paper you use. Do you use crayons and what kind? i am a new doodler but i love the brightness of your colours. I doodle north african spider web type art. it reminds me of the ancient and primal inside of me…but i would also try a different medium.

    • sylvia, thanks for your kind words.
this particular doodle has been enhanced just a smidge in photoshop because i wanted to colors to be brighter. the background was also done in photoshop. most often i use prismacolor pencils. i am currently working in a sketchbook made by bee paper ( I purchased because the paper was recycled. I would be happier with the paper if it were a little bit wider, so when this sketchbook is full, I will probably buy another strathmore sketchbook. I like the weight and tooth.
i’d love to see some of your doodles. are you on flickr?

      • Hi Sue,

Not i’m afraid i’m still in the dark ages when
it comes to computers. I doodle on paper
only. I started doodling entirely by accident. I
tried copying others and then suddenly
my hand decided what it wanted to draw.
I am clueless on posting anything on the
internet i’m afraid. I may learn eventually but
right now there is too much pressure due to
        the demands of work. Thanks
so much for the tips. I find that the
        universe is alwaysin constant conversation
        with me and doodling
is now another way to express myself. It’s all
my fault entirely for flirting with it so

The person that I loved for 12 years, and still love, has left me. I keep trying to hold on, but there isn’t anything to hold on to anymore. I keep trying to find security in something and someone that has no meaning for me anymore. Thank you for the quote.

  5. WOW I love it. I always love all your work. It is such a treat to see. I also like the doodling/zentangle type designs. Such fun doing them.
Your work is such an inspiration. I am new to blogging. I just started my blog about 3 months ago. Come on over some time and take a peek.
    Keep up the wonderful work.

  6. Wow. I just opened your site today and saw a picture and a quote. Yes,I’m in a journey now and yes, it is like Universe is taking to me! Thanks!

  7. I’m not sure why, Sue, but your doodle image isn’t being displayed on my screen. I love the title of your post. Yes, yes, yes! With each passing day in my new place, I’m feeling more centered and stronger. I just picked up my framed mandala a couple of days ago – hung it up yesterday. I love it!! Now I get to look at and be inspired by your fabulous, powerful artwork everyday. 🙂

Kim, I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. A serious relationship recently ended for me, too. All I can say is one step at a time, one day at a time. Take care and be well.
